IPTE’s universal combi test system Elvis (electrical and vision test box) offers opportunities for two by two test applications in one run in a very compact footprint. Tailored according to user requirements, optical inspection, in-circuit test and appliances for mechanical tests can be implemented. The object-specific test application units can be relatively easily changed by quick-release fixtures. Loading of the procedures is provided by barcodes. Reports on defects are presented at the data output of the touch-up unit; rework software as well as links to databases are available as options. The optical inspection is based on the Elvis box with flexible solutions for common displays, LEDs, 7-segment displays as well as different label types. The in-circuit-test is realized by using PXI technology, providing for fast and affordable test results. For the field of mechanical checks there are applications to verify push-button functions (optionally with control of force and click-point characteristic) as well as milled knobs. The measurement of the force-distance gradient is another option. The size of the tester is very compact, featuring 600mm wide and 1000mm deep, and it is available for in-line as well as for stand-alone/off-line operation. With the in-line version, board assemblies can directly be delivered to the tester by a conveyor, in case of entire products, work-piece holders can be used. For the off-line model, the test objects go into the equipment by using a drawer-type fixture. The tester is also being offered as a desktop variant.
