IPTE’s in-circuit test system Spider is built on the PXI basis, and is available in three versions such as in-line configuration integrated in a board handler, stand-alone machine integrated in a manually operated test station as well as a 19-inch variant for the implementation into custom-specific test systems. At the core is the ATU (analog test unit) with a compact size of only 3 height units, providing for all functions that are necessary for a quick and reliable analog ICT. These include signal amplifiers, multimeter to measure currents and voltages as well as multiplexer. Furthermore, the ATU has an automated function to self calibrate. Another part of the system is the MSU (modular switch unit), a relay matrix card for both in-circuit and functional tests. It features flexible bus architecture and can handle a maximum switch load of 60V/1A. Such a PXI relay card can offer up to 96 measuring points and allows for a large variety of different measurements, including complex 6-wire measurements. The vision-system software option delivers automated optical inspection in conjunction with appropriate camera hardware. The system can be equipped with a variety of modules such as cards realizing oscilloscopes, digital I/Os, logic analyzers, etc. Also other proven instrumentation standards like the IEC bus (GPIB) can be integrated. According to the various customer demands, different software may be used under the operating system Windows 2k/XP. The open system architecture assures highest possible flexibility in terms of application requirements.
