The Juki R-Series of SMD mounting machines is reportedly designed according to the company’s strategy of “lowest cost of ownership”. This equipment line consists of KE-2050R, KE-2055R, KE-2060R and FX-1R. All placers are equipped with bad-mark recognition, and the modules can be prepared with intelligent feeders, improved setup control, self-calibration system, as well as a multitude of other options. All these have been designed for high placement quality on complex board assemblies. The KE-2050R is a flexible high-speed placer from 0201s to up to larger items, equipped with a quadruple-placement head featuring laser centering and reaching a throughput of 13,200cph (accuracy of 50µm at 3-sigma). The KE-2055R is based on the KE-2050R, but has an additional vision system for the quadruple-placement head. It is thus ideally suited for placing µBGA and conventional SMDs to up to a maximum size of 20 x 20mm or 11 x 26,5mm. Throughput is 12,000cph for chip components and 3,290cph for vision-centered parts. The KE-2060R is a highly flexible allrounder placing the entire range of SMDs. Its quadruple head can optionally be equipped with laser and vision recognition, doubling the throughput for vision-corrected parts to 3,400cph. The other high-precision head allows for a placement accuracy of 30µm at 3-sigma. The machine suits high application flexibility and throughput, ideally fitting small single-module lines, as well as operating with other high-speed modules. The FX-1R is the fastest member of the Juki family and reaches 25,000cph. The horizontal axes are driven by linear motors, which deliver high speed and precise positioning. The special arrangement of the board fixture and the two placement heads on the XY-axes minimizes idle times to virtually zero: while one head is placing, the other is picking components and vice versa. Further advantage of this concept is its simplicity and reliability when compared to conventional double-head systems. Although it is stuffed with technological advances, full compatibility with all earlier Juki assemblers is assured by the supplier.
