The Asymtek DispenseJet DJ-9000 is designed for precise, high-speed delivery of a wide variety of fluids including underfill, SMT adhesives, encapsulants, conformal coatings, UV adhesives and silver epoxy. Ideal for stacked die and densely packed boards, the machine jets in tight spaces as small as 200 micron, and creates fillet wet-out widths as small as 300 micron on the dispensed side of the die. The DJ-9000 dispenses fluid either as discrete dots or a rapid succession of dots to form a 100-micron (4mil) diameter stream of fluid. Dot diameters as small as 330 micron and shot volumes as small as 3.6 nanoliters can also be achieved. Jetting breaks through many of the barriers of traditional needle dispensing to deliver speed, quality and low cost of ownership, and has proven to be one of the best ways to dispense many fluids. High flow rates of up to 50mg/s (underfill materials) are achieved, as well as high shot rates up to 200 dots/s, no Z-axis motion, jets on-the-fly with no stopping required between dots, less height sensing required, and no needle backtracking to prevent fluid stringing. High wet-dispense accuracy is also achieved, meaning smaller wet-out areas, round and uniform dots, improved line quality and line knit. Common problems such as bent needles, chipped die, warpage effects and dripping are eliminated. The cost of ownership is low; less waste of fluid takes place due to its small, wetted path; cleaning in 10 minutes or less is possible without tools; consumable parts are less expensive; no under-board support is required, and one model handles multiple applications.
