With its Batiflux 2420NC flux, the Balver company has developed a VOC-free, organic, water-based no-clean flux that is suitable for applications in lead-free wave soldering. The formulation reportedly exhibits optimum wetting characteristics on all metal surfaces. The low proportion of solid material in the flux leaves barely any residues and doesn’t affect in-circuit test. The product is claimed to guarantee excellent soldering results even with an increased pre-heating temperature. The material is geared towards wave soldering using lead-free solders, but can also be used for tin-lead alloys. Thanks to its solvent-free composition, the flux complies with the VOC and RoHS directives. Unlike conventional alcohol-based fluxes, it does not give off odors. There are no restrictions in terms of storage and handling either, since the product is not flammable.
