Enhanced modules to design own test solutions

The National Instruments seven R-Series devices and five CompactRIO modules for embedded digital-signal processing and high-speed control allow the design of own data acquisition and control circuitry supported by LabVIEW graphical development tools. For example, by using the LabVIEW Digital Filter Design Toolkit, users can take advantage of automatically generated FPGA code, and will quickly design digital filters on the FPGA chips of their RIO modules. The code in the FPGAs in the units can run at rates up to 40MHz, providing a solution for high-speed analog and discrete control. By leveraging these off-the-shelf products, users can reduce their engineering and maintenance costs, and at the same time the FPGA approach offers greater safety and system reliability than a conventional custom solution. The R-Series features a 3-million-gate FPGA chip, 40 MHz digital I/O rates, 200kHz analog input rates and 1MHz analog output rates, and it includes: PXI/PCI-7833R 3M-gate multifunction DAQ devices (8 AI, 8 AO and 96 DIO channels); PXI/PCI-7813R 3M-gate digital only DAQ devices (160 DIO channels); PXI/PCI-7830R 1M-gate multifunction DAQ devices (4 AI, 4 AO and 56 DIO channels); and PCI-7811R 1M-gate digital only DAQ device (160 DIO channels). The five CompactRIO modules expand this embedded platform with up to 32 channels per module and increase digital performance with 100ns I/O rates. The 9476 module controls 24 V actuators/8A, and two of the units feature options for the industrial 9221/9201 analog input modules, offering low-cost cabling options. The three other CompactRIO units include: 9401 8-channel, high-speed bidirectional TTL digital I/O module with 100ns I/O delay time; 9476 32-channel, digital-output module with 500µs I/O delay time; and 9265 4-channel, 16-bit simultaneous-current output module with 100kS/s update rate.
