Mimot’s feeder system with quick-change racks speeds and simplifies set-up by combining triple intelligent feeder technology with the concept of exchangeable feeder banks for greater speed and flexibility in high-mix environments. This concept reduces feeder exchange time through optical communication between the system, feeders and operator. The operator has many choices, depending on production needs: intelligent single feeders, exchangeable feeder banks or a combination of both. The Triligent feeders add speed, versatility, flexibility and efficiency to the pick-and-place process, whereas with the quick-change feature a single feeder or exchange rack with pre-selected feeder-families can be used. This flexibility is advantageous with customer components, or with many different products without overlapping components, and for manufacturers who work for different divisions with different component families. Each user can decide if the quick-change rack is needed to build production families, or if a combination of single feeders and racks would be more appropriate. Users who have no overlapping feeder groups may find that the single feeder concept is still the best solution. The combination does not limit the user to exchanging single feeders from a rack on the machine; additionally, all the advantages that Triligent offers are fully functional even if the feeder is operating in a rack.
