The Goepel PCI 3051 card for the CAN bus (CAN 2.0A and 2.0B) includes a multitude of functions. All in all, four ports (CAN controller) realize the higher hardware performance. Each channel is a 32bit controller to ensure the required performance. Unlike other cards, PCI 3051 has its own microprocessor per CAN interface. As a result, the timing for messages is independent from the Windows OS. Therefore, the real-time behavior on the bus is stable. The card includes extended extra features such as ramp functions, table functions, rest bus simulation and diagnosis protocols, etc. for automotive engineering which can be realized on-board and, in turn, can be decoupled from the PC operating system. The interface is only parameterized via Windows – the card realizes the accurate timing and the data flow via messages. Additionally, PCI 3051 has its own couple-plug connector to synchronize several cards in one PC. Pluggable transceivers, as small SIMM modules, render a high flexibility at the bus physics.
