The Olympus Camedia C-5050 is a 5Mpixel digital camera, also ideal to apply for photomicrography recording and archiving in microscopy. Its 1/1.8-in CCD imaging sensor delivers superbly detailed images. Complete manual control over aperture, shutter speed and focus gives maximum flexibility. Sharpness control can also be left to the camera’s automatic TTL (tru-the-lens) intelligent electro selective pattern contrast detection focusing system. Digital ESP spot and multi-spot light metering are available to control exposure, and, with the histogram function, brightness distribution can be checked. White balance can be fine-tuned via nine pre-settings, it can also to be regulated manually or automatically. The processing engine enables continuous shooting of either 11 images at 1.7 frames per second, or 4 shots at a fast 3 frames per second. The tilting LCD monitor located at the rear makes it particularly easy to view the image when the camera is mounted on a vertical microscope port. This model is compatible with a multitude of storage standards such as xD-Picture Card as well as SmartMedia, Compact Flash and Microdrive, and also has a USB auto-connect interface. Complete integration with software makes the camera perfect for image acquisition, archiving and analysis, and rapid transmission of images.
