Auer Boat handling with stencil printer

Applications
Auer Boat handling with stencil printer

Speedline Technologies has shipped more than 3,500 units of its successful MPM AP series printing system. As a very fast stencil printer, the AP Exel has also been improved with Auer Boat print processing, satisfying even more users in the semiconductor industry. Semiconductor manufacturers have been searching for the ability to print components located in an Auer Boat in a single pass with tight process requirements. Previously, these fine-pitch substrates had to be printed in a singulated format because a proper handling system did not exist. However, with the improved fixturing and easy-change tooling recently designed by Speedline, this has been solved. The AP Excel provides an accurate and reliable platform for this application. An evaluation by a leading packaging specialist led to the adoption of the system in the manufacturing process. Options for the platform include a dual-cartridge dispenser that quadruples paste capacity, Y-axis board snuggers and Gel-Flex board support that offers fast product changeovers. Additionally, the Rheometric Pump head and the BridgeVision detection system improve product quality yield. The SpeedMax feature provides triple-track staging capability on a single-track transport, reducing cycle time by 1 to 2 sec per board (up to 15%) compared to conventional handling.
