Real-time data acquisition and analysis solution

Kevin Decker-Weiss, the CEO at Router Solutions, discusses their product, their target group, and the expected developments in the market and for this year.

Router Solutions has been helping the electronic industry improve manufacturing efficiency, and at the same time, reduce costs. This includes aiding with CAD data preparation, BOM management, quoting, SMT programming, programming (AOI, ICT, MDA, flying probe), and more.

Kevin, what news are you announcing at this year’s exhibition?

We are jointly exhibiting with Mentor Graphics, a Siemens Business. Our main product that we are promoting is called, Valor IOT Manufacturing. It is an industry 4.0 solution for real-time data acquisition and analysis, and the whole MES solution on top of it.

Which specific target group are you addressing with this?

Pretty much any electronic manufacturer, of course. Our main area that we focus on are the small to medium size primarily EMS companies. Those are the ones that we’ve seen to have the most acute issues in terms of dealing with a wide variety of data and doing in under severe time pressure.

Which developments in the market place are you expecting, technically or economically?

I think that this is the year that Industry 4.0 gets real. I think it’s the year that the company stops asking themselves if they can afford to do it and start realizing that they cannot afford not to do it. Now that we have a little bit more experience and we can point to concrete examples in the market place and companies can better focus on what are the challenges, what is necessary for implementation and were not simply talking about theory, were talking about real practice.

What about the developments for 2017?

More of the same really. Our old product, which, we call Bond Connector, will continue to automate the quoting process. We see that within another year or two, nobody will manually do quotations, it will all be highly automated. More and more component distributors are getting on board, allowing complete automation, best price search.

They are realizing that you cannot afford to spend four hours doing something that you can do in less than two. And I see no reasons for that trend will not continue. The realities of the market place, the economic pressure, the time pressure, the short lifespan of a lot of products is certainly going to continue. And therefore, the requirements to build those products are going to stay the same.
