All-important quality assurance in advanced SMT production requires the utilization of inspection systems to provide a real-time overview on production status. Multiple inspection processes are often involved, including:
- Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)
- pre-reflow Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
- post-reflow Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
and/or:
- inline Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI)
Add to this the inspection of through-hole devices and conformal coating, and it seems obvious that the workload to maintain these processes would increase as each new system is implemented.
But that doesn’t have to be the case! When inspection processes and all the related tools are provided as a complete inspection solution, the human workload can be kept low, and the production optimized.
