Digitization and connectivity revolutionized lighting design

The impact of the lighting industry evolution
Digitization and connectivity revolutionized lighting design

Every sector has been affected by the evolution of technology that has taken place in the last decade. In lighting, this evolution has become a revolution, taking us from the use of phosphors, through LEDification and on into the current-day connected, smart solutions that open up the sector to a whole new world of potential.

Lighting technologies, and their development and application have never needed to be more agile, market aware and reactive to keep up with the changing tides. This need for fast and accurate investment and decision-making makes the LpS event more relevant today than it has ever been before.

This international symposium and exhibition has kept up with the rapid rate of change that has taken place. Over the last 8 years, this European lighting conference calls on experts from academia and industry to present their latest research, developments, innovations and expectations for future technologies.

LpS 2018 will see nearly 2000 leaders in light technology come together to share and debate the latest updates for researchers, engineers and system architects in the fields of LEDs, OLEDs, drivers, controls, optics, thermal management, materials, standardization, testing, technology trends, and luminary design. This year, the focus will not only be on the technologies; but also the multiple knock-on-effects created by this boom in development. This means that specialists in cyber security, miniaturisation, the human centric approach, productivity, manufacturing and economics will also be welcome.

Another event that was successfully launched last year is the Trends in Lighting (TiL) conference. A combined 1800 delegates joined light experts from international companies including Zaha Hadid Architects, Amazon, Philips Lighting, Osram and Zumtobel Group. Today, lighting designs must adopt a human centric approach. Designs for smart buildings and cities must be agile to keep up with rapidly changing user behaviors and new functionality requirements.

This year, the event returns with a new focused ambition, it is dedicated to bridging the gap between technologies and design to reinvigorate concepts of lighting designers, architects, engineers, consultants, planners and investors so they can collectively realize the full potential and value of lighting design. By bringing together innovators, inventors and industry leaders, this event will inspire and encourage attendees to build a future for lighting design that is relevant and secure.
