2015 IPC Apex show review

IPC Apex Expo is a five-day event like no other in the printed circuit board and electronics manufacturing industry. Professionals from around the world come together to participate in the technical conference, exhibition, and professional development, standards development and certification programs. These activities offer seemingly endless education and networking opportunities that impact your career and company by providing you the knowledge, technical skills and best practices to address any challenge you face.

Each year, IPC Apex Expo brings the electronics manufacturing industry together to participate in North America’s largest technical conference and exhibition. One of the most anticipated features at the show is the new products corridor. This year’s show featured 342 new products from 445 companies. The trade show and conference took place in San Diego’s Convention Center. This year new products further established the theme of the show, which encouraged the electronics industry to upgrade technology and knowledge. Among the new products were solutions designed to increase work efficiency, improve business operations, and enhance overall quality.

The new products corridor highlighted new products from equipment and materials for electronics assembly, manufacturing, and test. Also featured were solutions for chemicals, materials, and equipment for PCB manufacturing, as well as design software and printed electronics.

Among the highly anticipated special events was a complimentary opening keynote by Robbie Bach, former President of Entertainment & Devices at Microsoft, Xbox visionary and civic activist. He presented “The Xbox Story: Lessons in Strategy, Team Management and Entrepreneurship.” The next day Stanton Friedman, nuclear physicist, lecturer, UFO researcher, presented, “Flying Saucers and Science/Science was Wrong.” In addition, tackling the hot topics that have the electronics industry buzzing, six complimentary BUZZ sessions were offered. The industry’s top technical experts on subjects ranging from advanced fabrication and lead-free issues to U.S. federal funding opportunities, California chemicals regulations and technology roadmaps provided insights into timely issues surrounding each of these BUZZ-worthy topics. The discussions were lively during the event. This year’s keynote session had a sponsor, the company eSurface. They presented an impressively produced video which provided a visually captivating overview of their circuit manufacturing technology.
The next IPC Apex Expo 2016 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, Convention Center, March 15 to 17 for conference and exhibition, meetings and courses take place March 13 to 17.
