The fundamentally redesigned Phoenix ml/|inspector auto registration for X-ray inspection of printed circuit boards (PCB) now features many automated functions that formerly could only be operated manually. Operation and accuracy of the procedure have been remarkably improved. For example, there is now a manipulation system with higher precision; a fully automated measurement of the pad-shift and of annular ring widths including fail/pass-decision; an optional database interface for the process control (the data can be used controlling drilling coordinates); and an extensive software package for analysis and statistical evaluation of measuring data. These enhanced inspection features in combination with the highly precise CNC-controlled manipulation unit offer a higher degree of automation and throughput with little operator interaction, using such a system based on microfocus X-ray technology.
