For more than 30 years, the name Macrotron stands for sales and service of production, test, handling and inspection equipment for the semiconductor and PCB assembly industries in Europe. In this intense environment with many changes and movements, both technologically and in business, it’s more than worthwhile to recollect some of the significant characteristics of this pioneering enterprise in high-tech sales and marketing.
Richard Bladowski originally founded the company in Munich in 1972 as a sales and service organization for advanced semiconductor test and measurement equipment, service, support and marketing. Right from the beginning, Alfred Kulhanek and Peter Seelbach came on board. The two managers rendered outstanding service to the company since then and still serve now as directors. Mr. Bladowski later on sold his company to a US-based company and has retired in the meantime. The company, known for its very specialized product and service portfolio that has fitted into the demands of the electronics high-tech markets, expanded rapidly along with the fast growing semiconductor and electronics industry in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Its initial activities were focused, of course, on the German-speaking areas in Europe. A major step was achieved in the early 80s, when the company’s activities where expanded to the entire European market, together with a wider addition of production and inspection equipment for the semiconductor and board assembly industries, and along with sales and support of all the products lines offered.
The introduction of vendor’s specialized equipment and production technologies into the European market has always been one of the company’s high merits. Following this direction, Macrotron Process Technologies was set up as a subsidiary dedicated to board assembly and X-ray inspection equipment and technology support in 1995. The expertise gained in this area has meanwhile been implemented into the development of the firm’s own products for X-ray and optical inspection, as well as laser marking of electronic and mechanical components and assemblies. Superior software knowledge for control, monitoring and analysis solutions on the shop floor has also been developed, forming the base of distinctive manufacturing integration products. Beginning this year, the entire equipment business including sales, support and service as well as product development, has been concentrated in this subsidiary for even more efficient customer support and market approach. Offering a comprehensive range of products and services, the company seems now well positioned to meet the increasing demand for total customer solutions. The activities are being focused on leading equipment and support from leading manufacturers, as well as on own inspection and laser marking systems. Executive Eckhard Sperschneider, underlining the business goal: ”We have concentrated on innovative product technologies for electronics manufacturing and high performance process control software”.
