SMT adhesive for room-temperature jetting
The adhesive CircuitSAF MA-420 of Thermoset, Lord Chemical Products, has been validated for room-temperature dispense jetting with Asymtek technology. Pump chamber/ valve heating is not necessary which eliminates machine downtime for cleaning. It has demonstrated excellent results with a large process window from 23 to 45°C and stroke lengths between 0.3 and 0.7mm. The adhesive has high consistency and stability over time; a coefficient of variation of only 3% was maintained over an 24-hr period for shot consistency, and the same syringe was reported to perform perfectly over several weeks. The rheology enables high performance with all application methods. In addition, the material is capable of ultra high-speed „conventional“ dispensing in excess of 50kdph yielding consistent, high dot profile without tailing or stringing. High room-temperature stability and print open time provide for superior stencil printing performance giving high definition-printed „bricks“. This material exhibits high green strength, snap cures in 60 to 90s at 150°C (or 180s at 120°C), and can be stored at room temperature for up to 9 months. Uncured adhesive is easy to remove.
