The Germany-headquartered X-ray specialist Phoenix was able to increase turnover by 46% to 29m DM in 2001. In its third year of operation, the company has achieved its best financial results. Along with the completion of the production and administration complex in Wunstorf (near Hannover), the number of employees rose from 32 to 40.
The company’s product portfolio comprises of microfocus and nanofocus systems, X-ray tubes and application software. The contract inspection service has also seen growth and has become a powerful and efficient business that is being used frequently by an increasing number of customers. Reportedly, particularly appreciated by users are the quick response times for maintenance and repair on own and third-party equipment. Phoenix X-ray has subsidiaries and branch offices in Camarillo/USA, Stuttgart/Ger-many, Quezon City/The Philippines, and utilizes a network of 40 representatives worldwide. The export rate is almost 70%.
In 2001, the enterprise has launched several „industry first“ products including nanofocus X-ray tube, an automated inspection system for BGAs and CGAs, an analyzer for oversized boards and another one for the inspection of packages with submicron image re-solution, etc. The company’s strength has turned out to be the development of specificsolutions that have later been converted to standard pro-ducts. Plans for the year 2002are to install a subsidiary inAustria that is meant to serve the Southeast European markets. In contrast to the current trend in the electronics industry, the company is still hiring employees. (gbw)
