European research center IMEC has nominated Wilfried Vandervorst as IMEC Fellow for his exceptional scientific contribution to materials and component analysis, which is essential for R&D in semiconductor process technologies. The nomination is granted to researchers as appreciation for their outstanding internationally recognized scientific research. After obtaining his Ph.D. in applied science in 1983 from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Vandervorst has spent his career doing research on the use and improvement of material characterization methods. He is co-inventor of 12 patents, group leader of materials and components analysis, and is visiting professor.
