Mutronic’s PCB cutting system works differently than knife-based machines. By means of a rotating diamond cutting-off wheel, it cuts precisely and without any burr. The edges of the circuit board are bound not to become frayed or exposed to mechanical strain. The difference between this cut and conventional methods in terms of quality reportedly is enormous. But the cut quality is decisive for resultant effects which may be caused by frays. Tiny fiberglass particles, for instance, get into mechanical parts of the device or are transmitted onto hands and respiratory tracts vvhen the board is being processed. The cutting system generates precise cuts since measurement tolerances due to protruding fibers do not occur here.
