The paste inspection systems MVS 4 of Macrotron Process Technologies features a LED-lighting concept which covers a wide range of applications, and an inspection-software with automated pad & paste location. The instrument is compatible with the real-time process control package X-Pert, and can be combined with the X-ray series to complete SMT-line inspection solutions. The system is designed as a high-speed pass-through system by moving the camera head with XY servo-drive, and with the digital visiondevice it provides optimized scan throughput for up to 50 x 50mm/s. Another key element is the software that offers minimized application programming. The scanning concept now being added to the software (pad location algorithm), is generating all positions automatically by either teaching or CAD data-based programming. In the next step, an automated paste-locator is analyzing the paste-to-pad conditions. What is actually left is fine tuning the image thresholds. The instrument can be optimally combined with X-ray solder-joint inspection, using the same off-line programmers platform. With X-Pert process control, layout-oriented paste inspection statistics can be matched with solder-joint inspection analysis, resulting in optimized feedback from all production stages in a line.
