3M now offers the low-cost cleaning fluid HFE-72DA. The solvent consists of a blend of azeotropes, which economically and effectively remove solder flux residues from PCBs, and offers significant progress against the harmful chlorinated solvents and otherss. The material can be utilized as a direct drop-in replacement for HCFCs, HFCs and n-Propyl Bromides (nPB). It offers low surface tension and a low vaporization heat amount, which accelerates drying and minimizes liquid drag-out. Additionally, it is non-flammable and reportedly low in toxicity. All these make it applicable in medium to heavy-duty vapor degreasing processes that also demand high solvency.
