The board of directors of the Interconnection Technology Re-search Institute (ITRI) votedto dissolve the Institute. Theconsortium was founded in 1994 to conduct research and development to advance the North American electronic interconnection industry. „ITRI has made excellent contributions,“ said Jerry Siegmund, CEO. „Unfortunately in today’s climate, member companies, and for that matter the industry in general, are justifiably concerned more with their own survival than collabo-rative research.“ After being named chief executive officer (CEO) Siegmund did all he could. „His leadership was not enough to stem the tide against the worsening financial climate the industry has endured,“ said chairman Dick Pinto. „The board reluctantly concluded that in going forward, ITRI did not have the industry’s commitment or resources to continue operations.“ Pinto said he has asked IPC to continue.
