Vision Engineering’s non-contact measuring system Kestrel combines lab precision, repeatability and high resolution with in-line speed and ease-of-use, and employs the patented Dynascope optical technology. Components with different colors and textures, such as metals, plastics and ceramics, can be viewed with high-contrast true color, a feature not possible with profile projectors/shadowgraphs or video-based systems. The Kestrel offers magnification of up 10, 20 or 50x with a pre-centered crossline reticle. Accurate operation is achieved through a 3-plate aluminum stage, giving 150 x 100mm measuring range, a stage accuracy of 1µm@10mm and total system accuracy better than 0.7µm. The stage is gimbel-mounted and adjustable to ensure that the critical parallel positioning between viewing head and stage plane is always achieved. The optics provides clear views of difficult, dark and intricate surfaces. It also incorporates a computer with graphically labeled function buttons, for easy representation of measurements both numerically and graphically. Results can be printed. The unit has error-correction calibration across the measuring range, traceable for ISO 9000. A digital camera option allows capture of viewed parts.
