Goodbye to You Readers – And Hello to a Fresh Beginning

Goodbye to You Readers – And Hello to a Fresh Beginning
I admit that this very last editorial is a difficult task for me: to say goodbye to you, the readers of EPP Europe for whom I have written for more than ten years in the editorial department, and also for about 15 years for the German EPP. As it always is in life, when we go from one central point and situation to another, there is some grief, since something has to be left behind. And after ten years as the freelance editor-in-chief of EPP Europe, it is in fact a deep letting-go. However, it’s also pretty normal. As we go on with our personal expansion (this phrase stands for room for growth within and outside every individual), we will inevitably encounter such crossroads almost daily, consciously or unconsciously. Because such a long-lasting connection forms a massive bond, this parting isn’t an easy game to play.

I can simply say that I and all others from the team – we did this job as good as we were able to do it – with all the personal restrictions, references and of course the insights virtually everyone has. Yes, we did our best. As we could see from different feedback mails, personal contacts and calls throughout Europe as well as the US, the magazine was well-received and well-read and occasionally left some traces – hopefully not only in the sand of oblivion. And in case you came across some of my editorials which you didn’t like, please accept my apologies. It was never my intention to be personally injurious, but rather to increase awareness of circumstances surrounding, or the almost undetected, faint interrelations in our roles, be it in business or in that which we call daily situations. As far as I am concerned, I just wanted to make it worthwhile for you (or many of you) to read this trade magazine which also includes something beyond the standard technical content which can be delivered by many others. It was an affaire de cœur for me, linking the business side such as, for example, the issue of electronics manufacturing in the lead-free arena to an understanding of the arcane, or at least of buried things concerning existence and technology. This flow from the heart and its special qualities connecting to marketplace-related errands will go on, wherever and whatever my next projects as a freelance journalist and human being will be. Nevertheless, by now my role as the editor of this business journal is over.
In the last ten years we, the whole team of EPP Europe, did remarkable work in thoughtfully developing this now widely accepted and respected technical magazine to its current leading position; at the same time we have seen competing publications vanishing from the display. So now it’s time to say thank you to all of you, the readers as well as the enablers on the advertising side, and to even more individuals for their good will, support and trust.
Well, the reigns have now been taken over by Richard Fachtan, a German technical and trade journalist with a lot of experience. He is located directly in the publishing group where you may contact him or he can contact you. I wish him – in favor of the readers’ benefits and the welfare of this magazine – all the best in further developing the profile and the editorial content, in order to maintain the leading position as a genuine European periodical for all questions and answers in electronics manufacturing. Yes, this bimonthly will remain ahead, and obviously the new editor will give it his own personal touch.
All the best to you!
