Electronics meets automotive
Worldwide trends and innovations in the electronics industry will be presented during this year’s electronica at the New Munich Trade Fair Center from November 11th to 14th. The trade fair will focus on the growth markets of automotive and wireless. Around 3,000 exhibitors and 78,000 visitors are expected to attend electronica 2008. Leading international companies and experts will present the latest technological developments on the exhibition stands and during forums and conferences. As the international trade show for the electronics industry, electronica reveals the complete spectrum of all areas – in all of its variety, breadth and depth. Showing components, systems, applications and technologies in their relevant contexts reflects the great innovative power of electronics. Electronica 2008 is not only an exhibition, however it offers numerous, highly relevant extra events such as conferences, practice related forums and podium discussions that are also decisive in driving progress.

When electronica 2008 opens its doors in Munich on November 11th, the delegates at one of the special conferences accompanying the trade fair will already be running at “full speed”: the “electronica automotive conference” will welcome international experts and decision-makers from the automobile industry, automotive component suppliers and system manufacturers at the Munich International Congress Centre (ICM) of Messe München GmbH. Under the slogan “electronics meets automotive” they will examine fundamental technologies, pioneering developments and forward-looking trends relating to automobiles and automotive electronics.
The agenda of the automotive conference will feature compact know-how and efficient networking at the highest level. Expert speakers from companies such as BMW, Delphi, Sharp, Valeo, Volvo, ELMOS Semiconductor, Freescale Semiconductor, Panasonic Industrial Europe, STMicroelectronics and Tyco Electronics AMP will present current and future technologies, as well as strategies and trends in automobile electronics. The first day of the conference will be devoted to the “Decision-makers‘ perspective: Developments and strategies“. This will include, for example, the talk entitled “Ultra Low Cost Cars – Opportunities and Challenges” by Ian Riches from Strategy Analytics on the challenges facing developers and suppliers of automobile electronics and semiconductors as a result of the recent trend towards low cost cars. The second day of the conference will be devoted entirely to the topic of “Expert knowledge”. The speakers will include Jacqueline Dedo from SAE International on the topic of “Trends in the U.S. Automotive Market: Key Challenges and Innovations”. The conference will finish with the talk entitled “Trends in Automotive Electronics” by Dr. Axel Heinrich from Volkswagen.
All in all, the electronica 2008 is essential for international professionals; the meeting place for all decision-makers who value interdisciplinary exchange as well as obtaining a global overview. True to its motto: “get the whole picture.”
