Advantest’s R4870 is reportedly the first conformance test system to combine in a single unit the ability to verify both radio frequency characteristics and interoperability of Bluetooth-enabled products. Designed to serve as a stand-alone solution to manufacturing line and pre-shipment testing, the instrument can also be combined with other equipment to provide pre-qualification tests of prototypes. For verification of the radio layer, the system is capable of measuring output power, modulation characteristics, initial carrier frequency tolerance and sensitivity as defined by the SIG. The R4870 also comes with a number of additional functions such as the ability to automatically startup testing of modules, and the ability to perform testing using a ”dirty” transmitter signal (an irregularly modulated signal used to test modulation characteristics).
