Orbotech’s VT-9000 series of automated optical inspection (AOI) systems for board assemblies is reportedly a cost-effective solution for today’s mainstream requirements, offering flexibility, highly accurate detection capabilities and process-control tools at an attractive price point. It complements and expands the company’s existing line that includes Trion-2000 AOI equipment and Trion Advisor suite of yield management. The VT-9000 featur-es 2D/3D inspection techniques for accurate, consistent detection of paste, component placement and solder-joint flaws at line speeds. The Advisor tool provides data for intelligent process control. The system flexibly adapts to product changeovers and its program setup is straightforward for easy operation, and its compact design smoothly integrates into SMT lines. The series is currently available as VT-9200 for paste and placement inspection, and as VT-9300 for post-solder inspection.
