Compact, versatile liquid flow sensors
The engineers at Bronkhorst High-Tech B.V. have designed precision and speed into their new Liqui-Flow L10/L20 series of compact digital Mass Flow Meters. The new range, which builds on the analogue Liqui-Flow L1/L2 series, will measure flows between 0.1 g/h and 1 kg/h. The L10/L20 meters can be used either as flow meters or, with the addition of an optional control valve, as flow controllers, and offer a pressure rating of up to 100 bar. These stainless steel instruments are extremely compact, have no moving parts, and are metal sealed, making them suitable for aggressive fluids. The meters measure the mass of any medium directly, and can be calibrated for virtually any liquid. They can also store up to 8 calibration curves internally. Furthermore, they offer extremely fast response times, at less than 50 msec, and a precision that is better than 1%. The instruments’ output uses standard 0–5/10 V, 0/4–20 mA analogue signals as well as an RS232 connection. In addition to this there is the possibility of integrating an interface board with DeviceNetTM, Profibus-DP, Modbus or Flow-Bus protocol. Flow control can be achieved by utilising the integrated PID-control function on the Liquid Flow Meter in combination with an optional control valve or pulsation-free rotary positive displacement pump. Thanks to its small size, the sensor is also ideal for use in customer-specific configurations, making it suitable for OEM applications such as analysis.
