The numbers seem impressive: 60,000 sq.meters of manufacturing floor space, about 2,000 employees, and a placement capacity of 1 million components per hour. That’s what the newly formed ems-Alliance has currently unveiled and is about to offer. Not exactly under one roof, but in a worldwide co-operative network of six firms located in four strategic industry regions. These are VRI in Brazil, Rangsons in India, Note AB in Sweden, Lee MAH in China, Elem SpA in Italy and Xetex Corp. in the U.S.
”All the companies in the ems-Alliance are strong players in their respective home markets,” explains chairperson Marina Filipsson of Note AB. ”Through the ems-Alliance global network, we can provide our customers with a product in a number of countries simultaneously and thereby shorten time to market.” There is no headquarters and no profit-sharing overhead. Each of the alliance members takes on its own role and responsibility in any common project; each will refer customers to other members with appropriate competences to broaden their world-wide manufacturing capabilities. Local production and procurement based on local currency management is the basic idea of the alliance, says Filipsson. ”You can stay with your local producer and still reach the whole world.” (ws)
